School Nurse Superpower Nominees

Ruthann is a nurse that truly goes above and beyond for her students. Ruthann approaches each child evaluating the whole child assessing both medical and social concerns. Her student's love and trust her. They seek out her office or her presence as a calm quiet places to retreat to and be heard. They look to her for comfort during stressful medical situations sometimes calling the school from the hospital to hear her voice before a hospital procedure. Ruthann’s confidence when addressing medical needs of her students they palpable feel and they trust of love her. She is the kind of nurse that recognizes the small things clothes that need to be washed, little thought or fears that need to be heard, or a small space to just be quiet and exist in. It’s not always the great catches or the big red flags that she addresses, but it’s small things the emotionally draining things that she shows up for every single day. This is why I nominate Ruthann Johnson as a true public school nurse with super powers.
