2026 School Nursing is my Superpower Nominee:
| Shacora Simpson-Paseo Hills School, Deer Valley Unified, Arizona |
Shacora Simpson is a stand-alone Superhero. Known by the psudo-name, "Nurse Nikki", she has the ability to use her Jedi nursing skills to soothe the various ailments that have striken the children of this school from ages five to fifteen. Once, I watched nurse Nikki run across campus with the speed of Superman to get to a diabetic student she had been monitoring. A few weeks ago, nurse Nikki swooped in to the playground with a wheel chair and rescued a student that had fallen and hit their head on the ground. She does all of these things, and will call out a student that is trying to fool her with a fake "illness" so they will get sent home. Nurse Nikki is also a great source of medical information, assisting the adult staff with their ailments and providing treatment advice. In a school of over 700 students and staff, nurse Nikki holds all of us together with her special band-aids and ice packs. I therefore nominate nurse Nikki for the Nurse's Week Superhero Award.
