Amanda Brenneman

2026 School Nursing is my Superpower Nominee:

Amanda Brenneman, Baltimore, MD

She moves with purpose, not because she has to—but because she knows someone is always counting on her. For her, nursing is not just a role; it is a responsibility she carries with quiet strength. She doesn’t wait to be told what needs to be done. She sees it. Anticipates it. Acts on it. Whether it’s a student in need of comfort, a colleague overwhelmed with tasks, or a situation that demands calm leadership, she steps forward without hesitation. Her knowledge is deep, but it’s her instinct that sets her apart. She notices the subtle changes others might miss. She listens—not just to words, but to fears, to silence, to what isn’t being said. And in those moments, she becomes more than a nurse—she becomes an anchor. She leads not by title, but by example. Others look to her because she brings clarity in chaos and confidence in uncertainty. She doesn’t seek recognition, yet she earns respect in everything she does. During Nurses Week, we celebrate many qualities—skill, compassion, dedication—but she embodies them all effortlessly. She reminds us what nursing looks like at its very best: proactive, fearless, and deeply human. She is the nurse who doesn’t wait. She leads the way.
