School Nurse Superpower Nominees

Audra has nursing superpowers because she started working at Kansas School For The Deaf (KSD) with limited American Sign Language skills to use when communicating with our deaf and hard of hearing students. Audra's ASL skills have grown and she uses that skill beautifully when communicating with students. Audra is so patient and takes her time to listen to the student's concerns. Audra gets down on the level of the smaller students to look at them eye to eye when they come in to see her in the clinic. Audra thinks outside the box to come up with solutions and is always willing to go the extra mile for the students that she serves. Audra never forgets anyone in our building, often making sure that all of the paras are celebrated and that the housekeeping staff feel appreciated by her. Audra signs up for extra shifts and never wants the students to be at risk if we are short staffed. Audra is an asset to KSD and she is always a pleasure to work with. There are not many nurses in our entire country that know American Sign Language and use it as part of their nursing, and I believe that really makes Audra stand out as an exceptional school nurse.
