2026 School Nursing is my Superpower Nominee:
| Veronica Caraveo, Phoenix District #1, Arizona |
Our medically fragile nurse has true “superpowers” because she provides highly skilled, vigilant care to students who need it most, while creating an environment where they feel safe, included, and supported every day. She has an exceptional level of clinical expertise and attention to detail. She closely monitors each student’s complex medical needs, recognizes even the slightest changes in condition, and responds quickly and effectively. Her ability to stay calm under pressure and make critical decisions ensures that students remain safe in situations that can change in an instant. What sets her apart is how she combines that expertise with deep compassion. She builds strong, trusting relationships with students and their families, offering reassurance and dignity in every interaction. She understands that her role goes beyond medical care—she is an advocate, a comfort, and a steady presence for students navigating significant health challenges. She also works seamlessly with teachers, staff, and specialists to ensure each student can fully participate in school life. Through careful planning, clear communication, and teamwork, she helps remove barriers so medically fragile students can learn and thrive alongside their peers. Her consistency, dedication, and heart make an extraordinary impact. Every day, she shows up ready to protect, support, and uplift her students—and that is what makes her superpowers truly remarkable.
