2026 School Nursing is my Superpower Nominee:
| Kathy Reder, Archdiocese of Cincinnati, OH |
I would like to nominate Kathy Reder for her extraordinary dedication and the “superpowers” she brings to our school community each and every day. Kathy serves a school of over 1,000 students, a responsibility that would be overwhelming for most, yet she manages it with remarkable skill, grace, and consistency. She cares for students with complex medical needs, performs daily procedures for those who depend on her, supports multiple students managing diabetes, and administers countless medications throughout the day—all with precision and professionalism. What truly sets Kathy apart, however, is how she does it. She approaches every situation with a calm demeanor, a warm smile, and genuine compassion. Students feel safe in her care, and parents trust her completely. Her deep knowledge and expertise in her field are evident, but it is her kindness and patience that make her truly exceptional. Kathy’s impact extends beyond student care. She is a source of support for our staff as well—checking in on teachers, offering encouragement, and quietly tending to the well-being of the adults in our building. She understands that a healthy school community includes everyone, and she lives that belief daily. Her reliability is unmatched. Kathy is always present, always dependable, and always ready to step in when needed. Quite simply, you can count on her—no matter the circumstance. Kathy Reder is the heart of our school’s health and wellness. Her dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment make her more than a school nurse—they make her a true superhero in our community.
